- LOOK AT THE DETAIL. The sunlight shining between Stormfly’s spines; the colors of her scales; the movement of her head, her eye, her nostrils, her spines, even the little one sticking out of the back of her skull/neck, Hiccup’s hair!
- Stormfly just… stops. THINK ABOUT THAT. You can even see her pupils dilate. Hiccup just dropped his weapons, his defenses. If dragons were mindless killing machines, Stormfly would not have stopped. No defense means easy kill. But she’s got good eyesight, she noticed that he dropped them on purpose. She can see (and possibly smell) his fear — he knows that she could kill him, and easily. But he is refusing to attack or even defend himself in a way that would hurt her. Toothless isn’t the only intelligent dragon. They know when someone is taking a chance and putting some trust in them. The realize when someone looks at them as something other than blood-thirsty killing machines. Dragons don’t kill because they want to. Like a surprising number of dangerous, scary-looking animals, they are totally willing to cuddle with people. Those claws and teeth are for tearing into food, they just make pretty good defense, too, which is what Vikings have forced them to do. But here’s one tiny Viking saying, I don’t want to hurt you, so I’m trusting you to not hurt me. Stormfly is confused. This isn’t what humans do. But it’s not unwelcome.
Dreamworks is divine. That is all.))
